The Texas Legislative Council, a nonpartisan legislative service agency, provides technical and legal support to the Texas legislature for redistricting.
Mar. 1, 2012 - The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas ordered a revised election schedule, including changing the primary election date to May 29, 2012.
Feb. 28, 2012 - The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas ordered an interim senate plan for the districts used to elect members in 2012 to the Texas Senate (PlanS172), an interim house plan for the districts used to elect members to the Texas House of Representatives (PlanH309), and an interim congressional plan for the districts used to elect members of the Texas delegation to the U.S. Congress (PlanC235).
Feb. 8, 2012 - The trial for the senate redistricting case, Davis. v. Perry, was held in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, San Antonio Division, on February 8, 2012, in San Antonio.
Jan. 20, 2012 - The U.S. Supreme Court vacates the District Court for the Western District of Texas' orders implementing interim plans and remands the cases for further proceedings.
Jan. 9, 2012 - The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Perry v. Perez and Perry v. Davis.
