Recommendations for electronic availability of reports
Section 306.007 and
Section 2052.0021,
Government Code, require the legislative council to make a recommendation regarding the electronic format of certain
information that is required to be made available to members of the legislature or legislative agencies. Below are
the council's recommendations for each statute. These recommendations are also published in the Texas Register.
Section 306.007
The Texas Legislative Council's recommendation for the requirement of Section 306.007, Government Code, that a "state officer or board, commission, or other agency in the executive branch of state government, and an agency in the judicial branch of state government other than a court, shall make reports required by law and minutes of meetings of the agency's governing body available to members of the legislature and to agencies in the legislative branch of state government in an electronic format determined by the Texas Legislative Council" is that a state agency should:- format the report or the minutes of the meeting in HTML format, PDF format, or text file format, and
- place the report or the minutes of the meeting on the agency's website.
Section 2052.0021
The Texas Legislative Council's recommendation for the requirement of Section 2052.0021, Government Code, that a "state agency shall make each report required by law available to members of the legislature in an electronic format determined by the Texas Legislative Council" is that a state agency should:- format the report in HTML format, PDF format, or text file format,
- place the report on the agency's website, and
- provide notice to each legislator of the address (URL) of the report on the agency's website.
