| Bills and resolutions, current and recent
Copies of bills and resolutions of the current legislature are available through
distribution offices maintained by the house and the senate. House Document Distribution
and Senate Bill Distribution can provide copies of the different versions (including
introduced, committee report, engrossed, conference committee report, and enrolled) of
each bill and each joint, concurrent, and
simple resolution filed for introduction in the chamber served by the office. House
and senate rules allow filing to begin the first Monday after the general election
preceding a regular legislative session or 30 days before any special session. Document
distribution offices provide copies of measures from the time they are filed through the
interim, until the filing period begins for the next regular session. Measures from
previous sessions can be found in bill files maintained by the Legislative Reference
Library and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
Legislation from current and recent sessions can be accessed online through TLIS on
the legislative intranet or on the Internet. Certified copies of the final versions of bills and resolutions from current and recent sessions can be obtained by calling the secretary of state’s
office at (512) 463-0872. PDF images of those versions for the most recent session are available
on the secretary of state’s website and for the
78th and 79th Legislatures (2003 and 2005) on the Texas Laws and Resolutions Archive website of the University of North Texas.
